"Women of all ages have daily symptoms of pelvic discomfort. It is difficult for them to talk about these feelings and often; when they do come to their primary care providers, they don’t find much comfort or support. Unfortunately, traditional training does not prepare us for fully caring for our patients with pelvic pain. I feel so grateful knowing of the great work of the Institute for Pelvic Health and comforted that my patients will be well taken care of in their hands. We have much to learn in the primary care community and are lucky to have them as a resource."

"I have women from all walks of life and of all ages come to my clinical practice asking for greater support for pelvic health and honestly, there are so few options in traditional medical systems. I have been thrilled to learn about and collaborate with the Institute for Pelvic Health— their team and skills are a vital resource and invaluable for the health of women. I am so eager to continue learning from them!"

"The PHCC certificate program put together by the Institute for Pelvic Health is essential for any Advanced Practice Provider working in women’s health. The program is comprehensive but concise. It is set in a SOAP format. This includes a detailed review of the pelvic floor anatomy and patient interviewing and physical exam skills review. Most importantly, it helps establish a feasible treatment plan for a multitude of concerns for women across the lifespan. Such a sigh of relief for a patient to have an alternative solution rather than another negative culture and being sent home. With the program also comes a resource binder, which gives access to wonderful images and patient handouts. Immediately upon completing this program, I felt more confident and capable as a provider."

"I am an FNP practicing GI in a well-established practice full of male physicians! I never could have dreamt of how much pelvic floor I would see in my practice, as well as picking up on “missed”/under-recognized pelvic floor disorders. It has become a very strong clinical interest of mine.
The Institute for Pelvic Health will help me to provide more pelvic floor treatment options for my patients!

"Thank you so much for all of the knowledge and clinical guidance in this amazing new program. These assessment and patient counseling tools will without a doubt have a lasting impression on myself as a practicing clinician and my patients across multiple generations for years to come."

"Beyond the Kegel was beyond amazing! Melissa & Kathy break down pelvic floor health in a way that is easy to understand, regardless of your experience. The course covers pelvic floor anatomy, how to perform a comprehensive assessment, common pelvic floor diagnoses, along with prevention and treatment, and all the tips and tricks you could hope for! I appreciated their inclusive language and that their teaching supports providing care in a way that promotes patient autonomy and empowerment. The course itself is easy to navigate, the videos are engaging, and the resources are not only helpful in learning but are clear enough to use as a teaching tool. As a student WHNP, I feel more prepared for my clinical rotations and my future practice after taking this course. Thank you, IPH!"

"I'm currently a final year FNP student in a local Health Institution,"Institute of Health Science Gaborone" here in Botswana. You got my attention when I saw your post about the bimanual exam because I realised even here, we only learn how to examine CMT and Adnexal tenderness. Not much attention or practice is given to pelvic floor, but I found it important for us as NP's to incorporate it into our training so we can help our patients with pelvic pain without any struggle or referring."

" The Institute they have created is so extremely valuable. Looking at their work is a compelling reminder that medical science only knows what it cares to learn about. No wonder there have been heart institutes for decades, but pelvic health institutes only recently. I just love how solid, competent, assured, calm, and comprehensive that Kathy and her partner are, it takes all the stigma, mystery, worry away and opens the door to better well-being for parts of the body that are vital to all of life, and so all people."

I’m on OBGYN at a local Boston hospital and provide one session a week at a community health center. Kathy used to do pelvic floor therapy at the health center which was a huge help for my patients. I reached out to her to see if she would be willing to train me and my OBGYN colleagues. We’re excited to learn more about BTK!"

"Kathy Kates and the team at Wellest were so warm and professional. I felt very comfortable and safe in their beautiful, clean office space. Kathy is incredibly knowledgeable in her field and taught me so much useful information about my body. I felt I made significant progress under her care. Her communication skills both during appointments and before/after by email were detailed and helpful. I can't recommend Kathy/Wellest highly enough!"

"Thank you so much for all your help with my pelvic floor. I didn't know what to expect when my doula suggested I proactively see you before the birth of my son, but working with you has wildly exceeded my expectations. Rather than appointments I expected to dread or feel neutral about (who wants a pelvic exam?!), I actually looked forward to our appointments and feeling more relaxed, knowledgeable, and on the right path after each one. I appreciated that you accommodated working with me virtually during those early and scary days of COVID-19 until I was comfortable coming in-person and expanding on what we could do virtually. I appreciate your thoughtfulness, responsiveness, comprehensiveness, accessibility, passion for your work, and also your positive reinforcement. Now I understand why women in Europe routinely see a pelvic floor PT after they give birth. But I can't imagine most people are lucky enough to work with such a talented PT as you. I look forward to coming back to you if/when I'm able to get pregnant again. Thanks again for the amazing work you do and for all your help and guidance!"

"Melissa Hines at Wellest is the best of the best. I have suffered from major hip issues for 15+ years and she is the first physical therapist who has been able to make a real difference. She can right away assess where the pain/root cause is from and then customize each session based on how your body is reacting. She is also the most wonderful person and you know you are in trusting good hands"Â
